Cruella

Disney’s Cruella arrives fashionably early on all major digital platforms on June 25 and on 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™ and DVD September 21.

Cruella is Disney’s dark live action prequal about the villain from Disney’s classic 101 Dalmatians. It is set in the early 1970s and gives the backstory to Cruella’s wicked behavior which includes bullying, loss, and rough upbringings.

Cruella is Estella’s unkind alter ego, which her mother lovingly asks her to try her best to contain. Estella is clever, impulsive and distinctive for her black and white hair. She tries her best to keep Cruella under control for the love of her mother. Unfortunately, Estella gets into trouble and seemingly causes her mother’s death. Estella runs away to London grieving when she finds another two wanderers, Jasper and Horace, who end up becoming family to her. They live the lives of thieves, but Estella aspires to be a fashion designer. As a birthday present her friends help her get her foot in the door to work for her fashion idol, the Baroness, head of the city’s top fashion house. The Baroness is a darker version of Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada. She is stylish, glamourous, but abusive to any and everyone. Estella soon learns that the Baroness is responsible for her mother’s death and that’s when Cruella re-emerges. Cruella conspires against the Baroness and upstages her at every chance with her extreme fashion and wild publicity stunts. I do not like giving spoilers, so you have to check it out yourself to know how it ends.

The fashion alone in this movie has me completely sold. Just when I thought they could not top the last outfit and presentation they out do themselves repeatedly. The costumes are pure works of art.

I also love that the film is more diverse than previous Dalmatians movies and definitely less animal cruelty.

As a parent, I will definitely watch this with my 11-year-old, but not with my 8-year-old.

I highly suggest watching this on the biggest screen possible for the first time. Its brilliant and beautiful to watch. I can not wait to watch it again.

Consumers can enjoy never-before-seen bonus footage and deleted scenes in stunning Ultra HD™ quality and Dolby Atmos.
