Sequoia National Park

When we’re on our way to our adventures I try and research to find the history of the locations we explore so that my boys can have a learning experience! I find that teaching them while we explore helps them to build a memory with some fun facts to go along with it! Here my boys learned some history about these majestical trees. 🌲🌲🌲General Sherman is a giant sequoia tree that was identified as the largest tree in the world in 1931 and was named after the American Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman. We also learned that the forest needs fires and especially sequoia trees. They need fire to reproduce 🔥Therefore, the park uses natural fires as well as prescribed burns to maintain these ecosystems. We smelled fire as soon as we got to the Forest and after researching and speaking to Rangers we all learned some valuable information
