What I love about living in SoCal is the ability to celebrate and embrace several types of cultures! Alvarez Adventures is focusing on the events celebrating Lunar New Year this upcoming week!
There is so much fun to be had at Westfield Santa Anita, San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, Pretend City, SoCal Kids Museum, Bowers Museum, California Adventures, and Universal Studios! See below for some of our favorite events:
Chinese New Year Celebration at San Gabriel Mission Playhouse
February 3rd at 7:00pm
Good News Central Church’s Chinese New Year Celebration.
Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure
Friday, Jan. 25 to Sunday, Feb. 17
Celebrate Year of the Pig with a special appearance from the Three Little Pigs at Disney California Adventure Park. Guests can experience live entertainment and musical performances, including Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession, arts and crafts, culturally inspired food, music, decorations and merchandise for the whole family to enjoy. Included with admission.
Pretend City Museum in Irvine
Tuesday, February 5th 11:00am – 3:00pm
Celebrate Chinese traditions through fun activities and cultural learnings like lantern making, story time and calligraphy, included with museum admission.
Universal Studios Hollywood Lunar Year Celebration
February 2 – 17
Meet & greets with characters like Po and Tigress from Kung Fu Panda, Illumination’s Minions in traditional Chinese attire, a Mandarin-speaking Megatron from TRANSFORMERS™, and my favorite Hello Kitty! You can also experience a Dragon Warriors Kung Fu training show, Mr. Ping’s Noodle Shop, live performances and entertainment, a wishing well, and more activities, which are all included with admission.
Lunar New Year Festival at Bowers Museum
February 3 11:00 am – 3:30 pm
Celebrate with lion, dragon, and classical Asian dances, music, and art projects, crafting a paper lantern, face painting, and egg roll treats.
Westfield Santa Anita Lunar New Year Event
February 2, 2019 from 3-6pm on Level 1 in Center Court
Free event including performances from award-winning Asian pop singers, Lion Dance from The Immortals to kick off the event, Arts & Crafts, Games, Red Envelopes, Raffles, and More!
