Last week we had the honor of attending an exclusive virtual Screening Party and Q&A with the actors of Secrets of Sulphur Springs. Being able to have this experience with my son Ayden made it such an awesome adventure for us both.

Secrets of Sulphur Springs is a time-travel mystery series for kids and families, which is set in the fictional Louisiana town of Sulphur Springs. It was suspenseful and kept us at the edge of our seats the whole time. When we visited Louisiana last year, my son was utterly intrigued with the spooky ghost stories and incredible history of Louisiana, so this was right up our alley.

Secrets of Sulphur Springs follows 12-year-old Griffin Campbell. Griffin’s dad, Ben has moved their family from Chicago to take ownership of an abandoned hotel property, The Tremont. The Campbell family moves into The Tremont in hopes of restoring it to the lively vacation destination it once was.

However, on his first day at his new school, Griffin hears rumors that the hotel is haunted by the ghost of Savannah, a girl who disappeared decades ago. He soon meets and befriends Harper, a classmate, and soon they discover a secret portal inside The Tremont that allows them to travel back in time and uncover clues about the town mystery.

As a mama to an 8- and 11-year-old, I decided to first watch it with my eldest and decide if it was suitable for the 8-year-old, which now I can say it totally is. It was just the right amount of thrill and suspense to keep us excited and guessing what was going to happen next. We kept talking about it all day and cannot wait for my little one and hubby to join in on the fun. As a 90s kid, I totally related to both parents and loved that they time traveled back to such an epic time. The series also included relatable things for my kids, like live streaming that my kids are totally into. I am excited that we have this series to watch together as a family especially during these times. Disney Channel sent us some delicious cookies to enjoy while we watched.

We enjoyed interviewing the cast and finding out fun behind the scenes stories. Ayden was most curious about the cast being creeped out while filming since some of the scenes were so suspenseful. The cast mostly agreed about one particular scene that made them jump! Watch the episode and let me know if you can guess what scene that was.

In between episodes you can enjoy the new game! The DisneyNOW app will launch a game called Mystery at The Tremont, in which users can explore Sulphur Springs in an interactive adventure full of hidden objects, puzzles, and mini-games.

Mark your calendar, the premiere will be a special one-hour uninterrupted programming event on Disney Channel this Friday, January 15th at 8:00 PM EST/PST. Following its premiere, Secrets of Sulphur Springs will be presented every Friday (8:00-8:30 PM EST/PST) on Disney Channel, beginning Jan. 22nd.
