We watched an early screening of the movie “Yes Day” which premieres on Netflix tomorrow, March 12, 2021.
Before I even get into how fun this movie was, I must mention the amazing casting. I am so grateful to Netflix for the Latinx representation. It means the world to me when my kids can see someone that looks like them in a movie. In this film the leading roles were Latinx and even spoke Spanish. It made the movie experience that much better.
Now, as far as the movie, it is a complete YES! Yes, we completely loved it and we feel inspired to have our own yes day with our kids. In the movie, the parents went from saying yes to everything when they were single and transitioned to saying no to everything as parents. When they realize how negatively their kids see them, they act and call for a ‘Yes Day’! It entails a 24-hour period of saying yes to anything their kids ask! Yikes! Needles to say, this movie is full of lots of fun, adventure, and life lessons.
The kids in the movie are of different age ranges which makes it very relatable for all parents. As a parent, I know I struggle with feeling like I say no too much, and this movie had a lot of learning moments for me throughout all the fun. I love movies that we can watch as a family and where we all enjoy it, and this is one of them.
